GUEST SPEAKER: Patricia Altner is enthralled with vampires in paranormal literature, the fastest growing sub-genre in mystery books today. Ms. Altner’s passion began when she first read Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula (1887). In her words, “Vampires are seductive, powerful, immortal - what more can you ask for?” A former reference librarian who now works as a freelance writer and researcher, she is a scholar in vampire literature and culture. She will speak on the vampire’s role in mystery literature, the attraction of vampire to readers and how the nature and character of vampires have changed since they first appeared in the media.
