Program: “Doing Her Proper Job.” Maureen Collins, founding member and past president of Chesapeake Chapter, will discuss Dorothy L. Sayers (yes, that Dorothy L.), her place in the Golden Age of the mystery, her position as one of the few Oxford-educated women of her time, and the founding of the Detection Club, the first of the mystery-writers’ groups to be formed.
Menu
The Alpine Restaurant menu consists of main entrée (noted below). The cost also includes a mixed salad, vegetable of the day, and dessert. Coffee and tea included. Sodas and alcoholic drinks may be purchased. Please mail your reservation in time for it to be received by Tuesday, March 7. In a pinch, you may leave our location coordinator Sandy (301-949-6446 or sandy_balintfy@hotmail.com) a message with your reservation and name. If you call or e-mail Sandy and she does not confirm that she received your reservation, that means she did not receive it. Regrettably, no refunds may be made for no-shows or for cancellations after 7 March.
Getting there
By car: The Alpine is located on Lee Highway. From Maryland, take I-95 South and 495 west. At Highway 66, go East toward D.C. Take exit 69 at US 29/Wash. Blvd/Lee Highway. Slight left onto Fairfax, then left onto Lee Hwy and go approximately 2 miles to the restaurant, which has a green awning, on the right. If you reach Glebe Rd, you’ve gone too far. Overflow parking is available across the street.
From DC: Take 66 West, exit at Glebe Rd and turn right on Glebe for .8 mi. Turn left on Lee Hwy. Restaurant on left.
